REBUS is Kirintec’s C-RCIED (Counter-Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device) system.
I alluded to it’s importance in my last blog – feel free to catch up if you missed it, but typically this clever piece of ECM equipment, namely REBUS provides:
- First Responders
- Bomb Technicians
- Specialist Response Units
with a front line of defence against suspect RCIEDs, which was previously unavailable.
This smart jammer isolates the suspect RCIED without affecting the wider RF spectrum and hence the Force’s ability to communicate. Our system can be deployed in four forms:
- inflatable tent
- pop-up tent
- blast blanket
- blast bin
This enables effective command and control during the evacuation phase, as well as during the Render Safe Procedure (RSP). The REBUS system is now being utilised by Bomb Techs more and more as an option for dealing with suspect RCIEDs, or RCIEDs with novel payloads in areas of critical infrastructure.
The system can be delivered by ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle). This allows the appropriate render safe procedure to take place, if immediate disruption is not an option and once all other required protective or mitigation measures are in place.
