Two vacancies in our Engineering team

I am currently recruiting for an Electronics Engineer and an Embedded Linux Software Engineer.

Electronics Engineer

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To undertake electronic, RF and systems engineering activities for assigned projects
  • Electronics design
  • RF system and circuit design
  • Contribute to new product ideas, product research design & development, specifications and testing
  • Sustain and maintain in-service products
  • Production and execution of test strategies, test plans and test specifications to verify and validate designs at component, subsystem and system level
  • Maintain relevant documentation (requirements, design, test, interface, manuals)
  • Customer support and liaison (some international travel may be required)

 

Essential skills

  • Broad knowledge of electronics design including digital, analog and PSU
  • Knowledge in system and component level design of radio transmitter and receiver subsystems and circuits
  • Design of RF systems, PCBs and circuits from MHz to multi GHz
  • Hands on experience of designing, amplifiers, filters, PLLs, Directional Couplers, RF Detectors, RF Switches (e.g. PIN diode circuits), support circuitry (e.g. power supplies, control/interface circuits)
  • Able to prepare comprehensive design and manufacturing CAD, CAM and documentation packages for Contract Electronics Manufacture (CEM)
  • Development of electronic test solutions
  • Experience of the full engineering lifecycle and formal methodologies such as V-model
  • Expertise in the use of standard laboratory test equipment

 

Desirable skills

  • Schematic entry and PCB design using Pulsonix
  • Appreciation of software and digital hardware interfacing and principles
  • Software-based modeling and simulation of RF circuits and systems
  • Knowledge of cellular radio systems
  • Experience of defining and executing formal qualification testing such as EMC, environmental, safety testing in line with Def-Stans, Mil-STD, ISO etc.

 

 

Embedded Linux Software Engineer

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To lead and undertake software development on key subsystems, projects and products
  • Own the software solution for assigned projects/products
  • Contribute to new product ideas, product research design & development, specifications and testing
  • Sustain and maintain in-service products
  • Develop product requirements and architectures from loose customer requirements
  • Maintain the company’s software engineering tools infrastructure
  • Maintain relevant documentation (requirements, design, test, interface, manuals)
  • Customer liaison (some international travel may be required)

 

Essential skills

  • Linux programming on embedded systems, using ARM processors in C
  • Linux scripting
  • Construction of Linux filesystems and build environments
  • Hardware interfacing and driver development
  • Linux kernel development
  • Embedded software development
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in computer science or related subject
  • Able to document requirements, design, testing and interface
  • Unit testing and test driven development
  • Integrating and verifying embedded software with hardware
  • Either has, or is in a position to obtain SC clearance.

 

Desirable skills

  • Broad knowledge of programming languages including C, C++ (including metaprogramming using templates), python, Qt, Java
  • Hardware interfacing and driver development
  • Radio domain knowledge
  • Experience working with a military products, notably ECM and Counter RC-IED
  • Working to coding guidelines and standards, (e.g. MISRA)
  • Use of static analysis tools
  • Experience with a range of tools supporting software development, such as git, Jenkins, and Mantis
